Our conference will focus on craft, skill-development, and community building. Get your manuscript polished and submission-ready with how-to sessions, editing and critique, and community building. Thursday - Saturday is for adult and teen writers. Sunday is just for the kids.

All sessions are First Come, First Served. Building a schedule does NOT guarantee a spot and is for informational purposes only.

The organizers of KC Zine Con are excited to share the ins and outs of making zines. Zines (pronounced “zeens”) are self-published DIY booklets about a topic dear to the zine maker’s heart. They are typically handmade and embellished with collages and artwork. Zines are reproduced on a printer or copy machine, and then traded, sold, or given away for free. The zine concept favors process over perfection in order to get one’s ideas out into the world and shared immediately. There are many genres of zines and many ways to approach making a zine (fanzines, mini comics, essays, personal zines, instructional). Join us to learn more about making zines and leave with your very own mini zine to share with others. You may want to bring favorite sketches, writing, and quotes to include in your mini zine. Collage supplies and writing prompts will also be provided to help get you started.
